Aussie Designer

Fashion Week just happened in New York City and there are so many designers, it's hard to keep up! We all know the famous designers that show in NY such as Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui and Badgley Mischka. Have you ever thought of other designers that are not from the US? There are so many and we just don't realize it. I did some research because I was interested to see where other designers are from . I found Aurelio Costarella and he is from Australia.

You probably aren't very familiar with Aurelio Costarella but he has a very impressive background. He's won several awards such as Evening Wear designer of the year , Directional Day wear designer of the year, Designer of the Year in 2004 and in 2005 he won Best of the Best Designer for one week in Australian Fashion Week. He has presented his work to a VIP celebrity and media guest list. A big accomplishment Aurelio has done is being the 1st Western Australian Designer to ever be invited to show at New York Fashion Week in February of 2007. He made history in Australia when he put Costarella Design Limited on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2007 and was the first designer in Australia to do this.

There are many designers who wear his clothing and we never take notice because the US is not familiar with his name. Some celebrities are Rihanna, Alexis Bledel , Eva Mendez, Tyra Banks and Dita Von Teese

I looked at his Spring 2009 collection and noticed that he does not use bright colors. The most vibrant color he uses is a purple dress full of layered tiers.

His colors are natural and muted. He makes up for the natural colors by using beautiful cuts and layers on his clothing.

His dresses have many layers on the sleeves or bodice. It makes you not even notice the color he doesn't use. Your eyes go directly to the exquisite details .

He also makes clothing that can be worn on an everyday basis. He adds a little belt to accentuate the waist but still adds small details that draws you in.

If you need a dress to go out in , Aurelio has designed it! It's a simple black and white dress with black accents , ruching on the bodice and a deep V-neck cut with V-shaped straps.

Aurelio is different because he doesn't need color to make his clothing unique. He uses small details or large details to make a garment look amazing. Celebrities love it because it's just enough details and color to go out to an important event. His clothes aren't flashy but still make you stand out in a room. I could see his clothes being sold at upscale department stores such as Neiman Marcus or Saks Fifth Avenue.

Flamenco Paseo

Everybody knows that flamenco comes from Spain and they have amazing dresses when they perform. The flamenco style is so popular and has so many designers they have their own fashion week!

The entire show is based on the best flamenco designers. It is held every year and this year it was on January 31 through February 3 in Sevilla, Spain. If you think you've seen pretty flamenco dresses, you haven't seen a anything yet. Here are some amazing flamenco dresses that Spain is famous for.

Creation by Rosalia Zahino
"La Vida En Rosa"

Not all flamenco styles are dresses, there were a couple designers who designed pants with flamenco inspiration. Designer Juana Martin used the pant design. Her collection was called, "Mil y una Gitanas"

There are some wearable flamenco designs and I think this is the best example. It's pretty, simple but still has the flamenco flavor to it.
